The challenge
The home's original 100 A panel could not support solar, and a family member relies on a CPAP machine overnight. Previous installers had quoted only rooftop panels and ignored outages.
Our solution
We upgraded the service to 200 A, installed 20 panels with tile-replacement mounts that keep the roof watertight, and added a 13.5 kWh battery with an essentials panel for bedrooms, kitchen and Wi-Fi.
The results
- Average monthly PG&E bill fell from $412 to $58 in the first year
- Carried essentials through a 19-hour outage in August 2025
- Zero roof leaks through two rainy seasons
