How solar works and how we size it
Sunlight in, kilowatt-hours out, no moving parts
Silicon cells turn Valley sunlight into direct current. Microinverters convert it to the alternating current your air conditioner already uses, and your house takes that power before the grid gets a look at it. Whatever is left over charges a battery for the 4 to 9 pm window or exports for a credit.
A 7.8 kW DC array on a good Fresno roof produces roughly 11,700 kWh a year as a sample figure. kW is the rate the array can work at. kWh is what the utility actually bills you for, and it is the only one of the two that appears on your statement.
We size from your data, not from a package
Under California's Net Billing Tariff, a kWh you use at home is worth far more than a kWh you export. So the design question is no longer how big your roof is, it is when you use power. We pull twelve months of interval data, find your evening shape and size the array to what you can actually self-consume.
- West-facing planes are quoted separately, because afternoon kWh is worth more than morning kWh on a time-of-use rate.
- If an EV or a pool pump is coming, we size for it now rather than selling you a second project in two years.
- If the numbers do not work for your roof, the proposal says so in the first paragraph.

Most of this industry is built for the sale. Canvassers, a discount that expires tonight, a per-watt price with the finance fee folded in, and a warranty from a company that will have changed its name twice before you need it.
We have been on West Shaw Avenue since 2011, we install with our own crews, and we write down the parts that are inconvenient for us: that a corner module needs more attachments, that a tile roof breaks tiles, that your roof may need replacing before the array does, and that some roofs are not worth doing at all.
